Moser Named First Team All-Region

Gettysburg junior earns third all-region honor

Caitlin Moser picked up her third all-region award from D3hoops.

2010 D3hoops.com Women's All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Junior Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) tacked on yet another accolade on Tuesday as she was named to the D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team, becoming the first women's basketball player from Gettysburg College to land all-region accolades from the organization three times.

Moser was one of five players tabbed to the Mid-Atlantic Region's top team, joining Muhlenberg College's Kelly McKeon, who was also Player of the Year, University of Scranton's Megan Kopecki, Lebanon Valley College's Andrea Hoover, and Swarthmore College's Kathryn Stockbower. Players were nominated and voted on by Sports Information Directors from around the Mid-Atlantic Region. All first-team all-region selections are now eligible for the D3hoops All-America team, which will be announced on Saturday, March 20.

Moser capped yet another outstanding season for the Orange and Blue, leading the team to a program-record 24 wins and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament “Sweet 16.” She led the team in scoring (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (7.7 rpg) for the third consecutive year, becoming just the second player in school history to accomplish the feat. While her scoring and rebounding efforts were similar to prior seasons, her other numbers increased dramatically. The Bullet junior put up career highs in free throw percentage (.718), assists (69), blocks (16), and steals (56).

Some of Moser's best performances came in Gettysburg's biggest games this season. In a victory over then nationally-ranked Muhlenberg on Feb. 13, she put up 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, the Orange and Blue's first national postseason appearance in 15 years, she scorched the scorebook for a career-high 34 points and corralled 14 rebounds to lead the Bullets to a 68-57 win over Farmingdale State College. In the team's final tournament game against Babson College, Moser scored 21 points and scored the game-tying bucket to force overtime, where Gettysburg eventually fell 71-68.

Moser is the first three-time D3hoops regional award winner in program history, topping the two accolades earned by Jennifer Bengel '06 in 2005 and 2006. She was a first-team selection in 2008 and copped second-team accolades a year ago. Additionally, she was tabbed first-team All-Centennial Conference and was named a finalist for Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA)/State Farm All-America which will be announced later this week.

In just three seasons on the hardwood, the Bullet junior has already etched her name among Gettysburg's all-time greats. She ranks fifth in school history in both scoring (1,258 points) and field goals made (511), sixth in free throws made (233), 11th in steals (147), and 13th in rebounds (614).
