HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Gettysburg College women's tennis team improved to 3-0 on its spring trip following a 7-2 victory over NAIA University of Saint Francis (Ind.). The Bullets swept singles action and upped their record to 4-1 overall this season.
Gettysburg jumped all over St. Francis in singles play with sophomore Kylle O'Sullivan (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) and freshman
Lydia MacKenzie (Bedford, N.H./Derry School) putting up bagels (6-0, 6-0) at flights three and six. First-year
Laura Habecker (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day School) dropped only two games en route to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Rachael Anspach at No. 5.
Senior
Kelly Eurich (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) and
Katie Taylor (Ocean Cidy, Md./Worcester Prep) won handily at the top two singles positions, the former earning a 6-0, 7-5 decision and the latter chalking up a 6-2, 6-1 outcome. Senior
Meghan Kelly (Easton, Conn./Kent School) completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the fourth spot.
With the match already sewn up, the Bullets dropped two of three doubles contests. O'Sullivan and freshman
Meghan Fornshell (Westport, Conn./Academy of Our Lady of Mercy) picked up the lone doubles win 8-1 at No. 3.
Gettysburg faces Trine University Wednesday, March 10, at 3 p.m.
