2010 Academic All-District Softball Team District II
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg College senior
Sarah Woodbury (Audubon, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) was selected to the
ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District II Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, May 6.
Woodbury earned a spot on the team at designated player and kept up the softball team's tradition of academic excellence as the 11th Academic All-District selection since 2003. Her academic resume includes a 3.40 cumulative GPA as a health sciences major. On the playing field, she started all 38 games this spring and was tabbed All-Centennial Conference Second Team after finishing with a .292 batting average, 21 runs, five doubles, and 25 RBI. A team co-captain, she guided Gettysburg to a 21-16-1 overall record, including an 11-5 mark in the Centennial Conference.
Woodbury played in 136 games over the last four seasons and finished with a .270 career batting average, 62 runs, 109 hits, and 74 RBIs. She ended her career 11th on Gettysburg's all-time RBI list.
Woodbury has turned in an active four years away from the softball diamond and has served prominent roles in a bevy of organizations including serving as the executive director of St. Jude Up 'til Dawn and co-president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
The academic all-district selections are nominated and voted on by members of CoSIDA. Student-athletes must have a minimum 3.3 GPA, must have attained at least sophomore standing, and must have participated in 50 percent of their team's contests. The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
