Zach Thomson all went 3-0 as the Gettysburg College wrestling team finished 1-2 in a trio of non-conference matches at the Wilkes University Quad Saturday afternoon.
The Bullets (5-8) defeated Trinity (Conn.) College 28-21 following a 26-15 loss to 19th-ranked Wilkes and a 30-10 setback to Rochester Institute of Technology.
Thomson ran his record to 29-1 with his three victories, which included his team-leading eighth major decision of the season. The winner of his last 12 bouts, he is now tied for eighth in school history in single-season victories.
Against Wilkes, Evans started the match with a decision before Spano (133) earned his second straight pin and his eighth of the season, posting a 6:10 fall as the Bullets took a 9-0 lead. Taking on RIT, Gettysburg once again jumped to the early lead as Evans recorded a 12-4 major decision for his 20th victory of the season before Spano won by decision. But the Tigers claimed seven of the final eight bouts despite a decision from Thomson and a 7-5 overtime loss by Poplaski.
The Bullets never trailed against Trinity, grabbing an 18-0 lead after starting the match with three forfeits. Thomson went on to record a 9-0 major decision before sophomore

Gettysburg continues its season on Wednesday, when it visits Johns Hopkins University for a Centennial Conference match beginning at 7 p.m.
