INDIANAPOLIS – The Gettysburg College men's swimming team will send seven athletes to the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held March 21-24 at the Indiana Natatorium in Indianapolis.
The NCAA released its field for the championship on Thursday, and a total of 521 participants (235 male swimmers and 22 male divers; 242 female swimmers and 22 female divers) will take part in the meet. Student-athletes qualified for the swimming portion of the championship by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered.
It is the highest number of men's swimmers Gettysburg has sent to the NCAA Championships in program history.
The Bullets will compete in a total of 12 events, including all five relays after earning NCAA “B” cuts in all five. At the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships Feb. 17-19, the Bullets won four relays while also setting school, Centennial Conference, and CC Championship meet records.
Four of Gettysburg's athletes will also compete in a total of seven individual events. Senior
Matt Libby and freshman
Mike Harmon will lead the way by swimming in seven total events apiece.
Gettysburg is ranked the highest in the 200-freestyle relay, which enters the meet with the ninth-fastest time (1:22.04).
The top-16 finishers in every event are named All-Americans.
