INDIANAPOLIS – The Gettysburg College men's swimming team registered its first All-America performance in 14 years on Day Two of the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday evening at the Indiana University Natatorium.

Matt Libby touched the wall in seventh place in the championship final and earned 24 team points. The foursome clocked the third-fastest time in school history, finishing in 1:22.07. During preliminaries on Thursday morning, the quartet reset their own school and Centennial Conference record in 1:21.91, finishing fifth. Their school record entering the event was 1:22.04, set at the Centennial Conference Championships in February.
Kenyon won the event in 1:18.22 and was followed by Emory (1:20.93), Wisconsin-Stevens Point (1:21.10), Denison (1:21.39), MIT (1:21.44), and College of New Jersey (1:21.63). The Bullets defeated Williams, which finished in 1:23.66.
The last time the Bullets captured All-America honors in men's swimming was in 1998, when Rich Carroll '99, Pete Casares '98, David Lavigne '01, and Todd Peters '98 finished sixth in the 200-freestyle relay, seventh in the 400-freestyle relay, and 10th in the 800-freestyle relay.
Also in Thursday's prelims, the 400-medley relay team came within 0.02 seconds of qualifying for the consolation final and earning All-America honorable mention. Harmon, senior

Ashton Leyens finished 17th in 3:25.47.
In addition, Leyens and Libby each competed in prelims of the 200-freestyle. Leyens placed 18th in 1:40.35, missing a spot in the consolation final by 0.13 seconds, while Libby took 20th in 1:40.49.
Gettysburg will have five athletes competing in two events on Day Three of the championships on Friday. Potter, Leyens, sophomore
Sean Staerk, and Libby will swim in the 800-freestyle relay, which is seeded 13th, while Harmon will take to the water in the 100-backstroke, in which he is ranked 18th.
