STARKVILLE, Miss. – Two Gettysburg College softball players picked up all-region accolades as senior
Adrienne Rahs and sophomore
Abby Ferguson were each named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-East Region Third Team on Monday, May 14.
Rahs picked up her first all-region accolade as a catcher, while Ferguson was tabbed all-region for the second year in a row as the designated player. The sophomore was a second-team selection last spring.
Rahs, who was recently named All-Centennial Conference for the fourth time in her career, turned in a record-breaking campaign this season. The senior catcher shattered school single-season marks for RBI (45), sacrifice flies (10), and runners caught stealing (14) and she tied the single-season home-run record (7). For her career, Rahs finished with 13 game, season, and career records at Gettysburg and she set the conference career mark with 45 doubles. Rahs was also just the second Bullet ever to score 100 runs and drive in 100 runs and she was a two-time Academic All-District award winner.
Ferguson picked up her second-straight all-region nod after turning in another strong performance at the plate. She hit.375 this season with nine doubles, three home runs, and 21 RBI. Ferguson recorded a hit in 15 of her final 17 games of the season, including a 3-for-3 performance against conference champion McDaniel College in the conference tournament. She led the team with a .417 batting average in Centennial play.
In two seasons with the Orange and Blue, Ferguson has posted a .395 batting average with seven home runs and 42 RBI.
