NSCAA Division III All-America TeamKANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second year in a row, senior goalie
Eliza Gray (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) of the Gettysburg College women's team was recognized as one of the top players in the nation, earning her second-consecutive selection to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-America Team, it was announced Thursday evening.
Â
After collecting third-team recognition last year, Gray landed first-team accolades this season. She received the highest honor for any goalie in Division III as the lone first-team selection.
Â
Gray becomes just the fourth Bullet in program history to earn multiple NSCAA All-America honors and the first since Whitney Jackson '01 (2000, 1998). She is also just the third Bullet to be named NSCAA First-Team All-American and the first since Liz Feldhusen '05 in 2004.
Â
After turning in an outstanding senior campaign, Gray also received First-Team NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region, First Team All-Centennial Conference, and Centennial Conference Player of the Year accolades. She broke Gettysburg single-season records for shutouts (12), goals-against average (0.31), and save percentage (.889) while leading the conference in all three categories. For the season, she yielded just six goals over 18 matches and 1,748 minutes.
Â
Gray was particularly impressive down the stretch, when she allowed just one goal over her final seven matches, when the Bullets went 5-0-2. Among the NCAA Division III leaders, she currently ranks seventh in goals-against average and 16th in save percentage.
Â
For her career, Gray finished with nearly every school record for goalies, including wins (47), shutouts (38), goals-against average (0.46), and save percentage (.863). She also broke the Centennial Conference records for shutouts and is second in conference history in goalie wins.
Â
Gettysburg finished the year with a record of 10-2-6 and placed fourth in the conference regular-season standings with a league mark of 7-2-1. For the sixth year in a row, the Bullets registered a double-digit victory total and reached the Centennial Conference playoffs.
