GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College wrestling team dropped decisions to No. 20 Stevens Institute of Technology and No. 22 New York University in Centennial Conference action inside Bream Gym Saturday afternoon.
 
Gettysburg (6-6, 1-3 CC) lost a 33-6 decision to Stevens (16-2, 4-0 CC) to open the day. The Ducks won each of the first eight matches before the Bullets managed a victory. Sophomore Anthony Puca (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) scored a late takedown in the third period to get by Danny Moore 3-1 at 197 pounds. Freshman Paul Triandafilou (Derwood, Md./Georgetown Prep) followed up with an overtime victory against Tyler Maher at heavyweight, scoring a takedown in the second tiebreaker to win 4-2. Triandafilou, ranked eighth in the country, remained unbeaten at 17-0 this season.
 
Junior Camden Stoops (East Prospect, Pa./Eastern York) dominated an exhibition match against Pete Andrich at heavyweight and finished off a pin with 14 seconds left in the first period.
 
Gettysburg tallied wins at 149 and heavyweight against NYU (8-4, 2-1 CC). Sophomore Quinn Merrigan (Canton, Mass./Canton) improved to 15-4 this season with a 7-4 decision over Nicholas Matthews at 149. Trailing 4-3 entering the third period, Merrigan took the lead with a near-fall and tacked on two additional points via a penalty and riding time.
 
Stoops closed the day with a 4-0 decision over Kyle Paterson at heavyweight. An early takedown put the Bullet grappler in front with an escape and riding time adding to the score. Stoops moved to 19-7 overall this season.
 
Gettysburg entertains McDaniel College in its final home match of the season on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m.
