Women's Basketball Program History

Team
The women's basketball team went 24-5 and won its first two games in the NCAA Tournament in 2009-10.
The Gettysburg College women's basketball team continually rises to the challenge in the highly competitive Centennial Conference with 15 winning seasons in the last 17 years. The Bullets have posted double-digit wins in conference play in each of the last six seasons.

Women's basketball at Gettysburg is characterized by a never-say-die attitude. Its players give 100% effort 100% percent of the time, a mantra that has allowed Head Coach Mike Kirkpatrick to win 295 games over his 21-year coaching career. When opposing teams see the Bullets on the schedule, they know they have a tough match in store.

In addition to its fine team play, the Bullets have showcased some remarkable individual talent over the years. Twelve players have scored more than 1,000 points in their careers, led by Jennifer Bengel, who concluded her career in 2006, with 1,701. Also in 2006, Bengel became the first Gettysburg women's basketball player to be named Centennial Conference Player of the Year.

More recently, Gettysburg made its mark on the national scene with its fourth appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2009-10. The Bullets embarked on a record-breaking run, compiling a 24-5 overall record and advancing to the NCAAs "Sweet Sixteen." Caitlin Moser '11 was named the program's first-ever WBCA All-American at the end of the year and the Bullets finished ranked in national polls released by D3hoops (16th) and the WBCA (18th).
