How strong is Gettysburg women's swimming? Its record speaks for itself: 219 dual-meet victories and only 20 losses (.916 winning percentage) over the last 24 years combined with 25 conference championships and numerous All-Americans.
The Bullets have won 11 Centennial Conference championships in the 16 years the conference has been in existence, including seven in a row from 1994 to 2000. Gettysburg shattered its own record for total points in the conference championship meet, racking up 913 points in 2008. The conference domination extends well beyond the Centennial Conference as the Bullets won an unprecedented 14 titles in its former conference, the Middle Atlantic Conference, from 1979 to 1993.
The team has also made quite a splash in NCAA Division III national competition, with many top-20 finishes, including five finishes in the top 10. Forty-eight student-athletes have earned All-America distinction with two swimmers - Patti Schuman in the 50-yard fly (1982) and Lynne Cassidy in the 500-yard freestyle (1990, 1991) winning national championships.
