Gettysburg College Athletics

On April 15, 1931, in the first game of his first varsity season, Enders batted first, started at shortstop and went 2-for-4. Most importantly, he scored the final run in a four-run, eighth-inning rally that allowed Gettysburg to come back and defeat Villanova, 5-4. Only two days later he scored four times and cracked two home runs on successive at-bats in a 13-5 pounding of Bucknell. Over the course of the 1931 season, Enders hit safely in all but two games and batted .333 with six extra-base hits.

In 1932, he moved to second base and again hit safely in all but two games, finishing with a .310 batting average. As a senior and team captain in 1933, he again started every game and collected a hit in all but two games. He finished his career with a .329 batting average. In addition to his baseball exploits, he was a back and end with the Bullet football squad during those years and a member of the 1931-32 basketball team. He also participated on the freshman teams all three sports.

A native of Lykens, Pa., he graduated in 1933 with a degree in biology.
