Gettysburg College Athletics

His name has become synonymous with Gettysburg College. For nearly 50 years, he served the College as player, coach, athletics director and a member of the board of trustees.

As an undergraduate, he was a talented runner, passer and kicker on the football team, a guard in basketball and a fine batter and defensive infielder in baseball.

Between 1927 and 1956, he coached Gettysburg football, basketball and baseball teams, compiling a combined record of 448 wins, 280 losses and 14 ties.

He was named director of athletics in 1953 and remained in that position until his retirement in 1969.
