Gettysburg's first Academic All-American basketball player, he was an outstanding shooter. The 6'7" forward possessed a naturally quick turn-around jumper which was very accurate from as far as 25 feet from the basket. In 71 collegiate basketball games, he landed 47 percent of his 1,214 field goal attempts and finished with 1,250 points and 726 rebounds. During his senior year, he scored 30 or more points in a game three times and established a new school record for points in one game when he tossed in 45. His accomplishments on the basketball court for the Bullets earned him Little All-American recognition and honorable mention All-American. He was named Lutheran All-American first team and All-State, was twice named All-East and three times made the All-East Atlantic Conference team.

Following his graduation from Gettysburg, he played one year of professional basketball in Belgium and, in 1979, he was awarded an MBA from Stanford.
