During his four year gridiron career, he helped guide the Bullets to a 24-9-4 record. He was basically a quarterback, but also played fullback and halfback. Not only could he throw well, but he ran for tremendous yardage, punted, drop-kicked extra points and was an excellent pass receiver.
During his freshman year, Gettysburg went 6-1-2 and won the Eastern Conference Championship. He turned in an outstanding rushing game the following season in a win over F&M. But it was during his final two years that his talents surfaced. He picked up a fumble, returned it to the one-yard line and moments later scored in a 14-12 upset of nationally ranked Bucknell. His greatest game was his last, a 25-6 victory over F. and M. A memorable game for him was the 7-7 tie against Lehigh in the dedication game of Memorial Stadium.
He went on to become an outstanding teacher, coach and administrator at Phoenxville, Pa., High School.
