Gettysburg College Athletics

Megan Murphy decided to play lacrosse during her senior year of high school. Four years later, she was one of the top collegiate lacrosse players in the nation.
 
A three-sport star in high school, Murphy was a relative newcomer to lacrosse when she arrived at Gettysburg. She quickly helped the team capture its first Centennial Conference title and appear in the NCAA Division III Tournament as a freshman midfielder. As a sophomore, Murphy landed all-conference honors after producing a record-breaking season inside the draw circle where she racked up a conference-record 116 draw controls.
 
In 2002, Gettysburg regained the conference crown as Murphy was named All-America for the first time. That set the stage for the greatest individual offensive season in school history. As a senior, Murphy stormed through the record books, leading the nation with a conference and school record 140 points. She was named Inside Lacrosse Division III Offensive Player of the Year, All-America First Team, and CC Player of the Year. Gettysburg claimed its third conference title and advanced to the NCAA playoffs once again.
 
Murphy closed her career as Gettysburg’s all-time leader in points (284), while also holding the Centennial Conference record for career draw controls at 272.
 
A native of Wilton, Conn., Murphy graduated from Gettysburg with a degree in history.
