Mike Walmer (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) made a season-high 11 saves as the Gettysburg College men's soccer team picked up a 1-0 non-conference win at Division II Shippensburg University Sunday afternoon.
Gettysburg (7-5-2), which was playing its final non-conference game of the season, received all the scoring it would need when DeBlois drilled in his team-leading sixth goal of the season and his fourth game-winner. The goal was set up by assists from senior
Ryan Shaffer (Biglerville, Pa./Biglerville) and sophomore
Eric Hynes (Far Hills, N.J./Pingry School).
The Red Raiders (1-9-4) put 11 of their 16 shots on goal, but Walmer's big day resulted in his sixth shutout of the season and his second in three days.
The Bullets out-shot Shippensburg 21-16 and held a 9-5 advantage in corners.
Clay Sale was handed the loss in goal, playing the first half and making four saves. Andrew Foran stopped one shot in the second half for the Raiders.
Gettysburg resumes play on Saturday, when it hosts Dickinson College at 4 p.m. in Centennial Conference action.
