LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior defender
Alyssa Heimbach (Palm, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) of the 13th-ranked Gettysburg College field hockey team has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Heimbach helped the Bullets close out their regular season with three Centennial Conference shutouts in a 3-0 week. She helped Gettysburg prevent Dickinson College from taking a shot in a 1-0 win on Tuesday, then scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory at Muhlenberg College on Friday. She also helped the Bullets hold Swarthmore College to one shot while adding an insurance goal in a 2-0 win on Sunday.
For the season, Heimbach ranks second on the team in scoring with 14 points. She has scored five goals on just 13 shots and has also handed out four assists.
Gettysburg (14-4, 8-2 CC) finished second in the Centennial Conference to earn the two seed in this week's Centennial Conference tournament. The Bullets face third-seeded and 17th-ranked Johns Hopkins University in the semifinals on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at tournament final four host Ursinus College.
