Bullets Close with 5-4 Setback at Muhlenberg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's tennis team fell short in its bid to end the season in the win column as host Muhlenberg College walked away with a 5-4 decision in Centennial Conference action on Saturday, April 25.

Gettysburg (7-9, 2-7 CC) dropped two of three doubles matches to Muhlenberg (5-7, 3-6 CC) with the top tandem of senior Mike Leary (Alexandria, Va./Gonzaga College (D.C.)) and junior Dale Beshore (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) falling 9-7 to Zack Adler and Jordan Rutt. The Bullets' No. 2 tandem of freshmen Terry Keegan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) and Sebastian Rodriguez (Plano, Texas/Plano West) picked up an 8-4 win to close their season with a 9-6 record.

Beshore earned a 6-4, 6-0 victory over John Osborne at No. 1 singles and freshman Mike McLaughlin (Hanover, Pa./South Western) and Rodriguez each added three-set wins at four and five, respectively. McLaughlin, playing his fifth three-set match of the season, earned a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 win, while Rodriguez also bounced back from a second-set loss to win 6-4, 4-6, 10-6. McLaughlin finished 8-7 overall and Rodriguez 7-5 overall in their debut seasons.
