GETTYSBURG, Pa. – It was another week and another player-of-the week award for junior center
Andrew Powers (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown).
The Gettysburg College junior center has been named to the
D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the second week in a row and for the third time this season, it was recently announced.
Powers averaged 21.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week for the Bullets. He scored a game-high 22 points in a 74-63 win at Ursinus College last Tuesday, shooting 7-of-12 from the field and 8-of-12 at the foul line. He followed up with a pair of double-doubles: a game-high 25-point, 12-rebound performance in a 76-71 loss to Muhlenberg College last Thursday and 17 points and 10 boards in a 67-59 win against Haverford College on Saturday. For the week, Powers shot 54.3 from the field and 71.9 percent at the charity stripe.
Powers is the leading scorer in the Centennial Conference, averaging 19.7 points per game. He is also sixth in rebounding (7.9 rpg), eighth in assists (2.80 apg), eighth in field-goal percentage (53.0 percent), and tied for 10th in steals (1.53 spg).
Gettysburg (9-6, 7-2 CC) is tied with Franklin & Marshall College for first place in the Centennial Conference standings. The Bullets return to action on Saturday, when they visit Swarthmore College at 4 p.m. in a conference match-up.
