Chris Brown (Far Hills, N.J./Ridge) and
Rich Kampert (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) were each named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-East Region Honorable Mention as members of the Gettysburg College men's soccer team.
Brown was lauded for the second year in a row on the team, while Kampert picked up his first academic honor from the NSCAA.
Brown, an English major with a 3.37 GPA, was also named All-Centennial Conference Honorable Mention this past season as a team co-captain in the Bullets' midfield. He started 16 matches and posted two goals and 13 shots. He was a two-year starter and four-year letterwinner for the Orange and Blue and appeared in 46 career matches.
Kampert made a significant impact in his first full year as a starter in the Gettysburg backfield this fall. He appeared in 16 matches and helped the squad notch six shutouts and a 1.3 goals against average. Double-majoring in management and economics and carrying a 3.82 GPA, Kampert will return for his final season of eligibility next fall.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member; be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution; be in his second year at the current school if he or she is a transfer student; and submit an official copy of a certified transcript.
