Eva Strobl each finished second to lead the Gettysburg College track & field teams in their season opener at the Dickinson College Holiday Invitational on Saturday inside the Kline Center.
The men's team finished with 26 points to place ninth of 11 teams while the Bullet women posted a score of 20 to come in 10th of 11 teams. Dickinson won both team titles.
Daniels raced to a time of 53.17 to earn his second-place finish in the 400-meter dash. Strobl earned her runner-up showing in the 800-meter run, clocking a 2:34.59.
Three other Bullets broke the top-eight for the men's team. Freshman
Edward Makinde took fourth in the triple jump (39- 1/4), freshman
Malcolm Belin placed fifth in the 200-meter dash (24.15), and sophomore
Will Demakis came in seventh in the 400-meter dash (57.42).
Also earning points for the women's team were sophomore
Cari McMaster, who placed seventh in the 800 (2:44.43), freshman
Madison Senseney, who was seventh in the triple jump (28-7 1/2), and sophomore
Eva Hinkeldey, who took eighth in the pole vault (8-11 3/4).
Gettysburg takes over a month off from competition before traveling to the Bucknell University Open and Multi Meet Jan. 27-28.
