Hinkeldey Wins Pole Vault to Lead Track

Bullets Compete at Bucknell and Albright

LEWISBURG, Pa. and READING, Pa. – The Gettysburg College track & field teams competed at both the Bucknell University Winter Classic and the Albright College Invitational on Saturday.


Sophomore Eva Hinkeldey turned in the top finish for the Bullets, winning the pole vault at Albright with a height of 8-11 1/2. Senior Alexandra Van Tuyl also had a big day, placing among the top-four in five events. She was the runner-up in the 55-meter hurdles (9.96), the long jump (14-10 1/2), and the triple jump (32- 1/4) and was fourth in both the 55-meter dash (8.22) and the high jump (4-7).

For the men's team, freshman Edward Makinde broke into the school's all-time indoor top-10 in the triple jump. He took second with a mark of 40-4 1/4, which ranks fifth in Gettysburg history.

At Bucknell, sophomore Patrick Hill broke the school record in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:38.47 while placing fifth. He was followed closely by junior Brad Wiseman, who took sixth in 2:38.58.

Leading the women's team at Bucknell was junior Kerry Campbell, who placed eighth in the 3,000-meter run in 10:54.25.

In the mile, both senior Amanda Pellowe and freshman Meagan Lesniak ran well. Pellowe raced to a personal record of 5:28.24, which ranks fifth in school history, while Lesniak clocked a 5:38.20, which places her seventh all-time at Gettysburg in the event.

Gettysburg continues its indoor season on Friday at the Susquehanna University Open.
