Complete Academic All-America Team
TOWSON, Md. – Rising senior
Brad Wiseman of the Gettysburg College men's track & field team has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division III Track & Field/Cross Country Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Wiseman becomes the 19th Academic All-American in school history and the third this season, joining Larry DelViscio '13 of the football team and Adrienne Rahs '12 of the softball squad. He is also the third Academic All-American in program history; Tyler Kreitz '09 was a second-team selection in 2009 while Greg Cumming '09 captured third-team recognition in 2008.
Wiseman was one of 45 student-athletes to earn Division III men's track & field/cross country Academic All-America honors and one of just two from the Centennial Conference, as Michael Baer of Muhlenberg College was selected to the first team.
After battling injuries over his first two seasons at Gettysburg, Wiseman bounced back to record a strong junior campaign in 2012. A middle-distance runner and an 800-meter specialist, he ran on the 4x800 squad that broke the school's indoor record at the Susquehanna University Open with a time of 8:03.10. He helped the same relay team finish fourth at the Centennial Conference Indoor Championships, and earlier in the season he ran a time of 2:38.58 in the 1,000-meter run, which places him second on the school's all-time list.
Outdoors, Wiseman ran the top times of his career in all of the events in which he competed, including the 400-meter dash (52.79), the 800-meter run (1:57.50) and the 1,500-meter run (4:11.38). At the Centennial Conference Championships, he ran the second leg of the 4x800 relay team that captured the silver with a time of 7:47.93, which ranks second in school history behind only the squad that won the CC title with a conference-record time in 2010.
Off the track, Wiseman is an economics major and business minor with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. A member of the Omicron Delta Epsilon Honor Society in Economics, he completed a graduate-school level independent study this past spring on investment finance.
