GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Dave Musser (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Twp.) picked up a victory at second singles against Ursinus College, but Gettysburg fell to the Bears in an 8-1 decision on Saturday.
 
Ursinus (11-4, 3-3 CC) jumped out to the quick lead over Gettysburg (2-9, 0-5 CC) with a sweep in doubles. Juniors Scott Johnson (Fort Salonga, N.Y./King's Park) and Mike Pratt (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) narrowly missed a victory at No. 2, but Evan Lord and Alex Elbogen secured the final two points to win 8-6.
 
Musser scored Gettysburg's lone victory at the second flight. After falling 6-2 in the opening set against Lord, the Bullet first-year tied the match with a 6-3 win in set two. With the team decision already favoring the Bears, the combatants played a super-tiebreaker with Musser coming out the victor 10-3.
 
Evan Stutchin and senior Chris Curran (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) were the final two competitors to leave the court. Stutchin edge the Gettysburg senior in a tiebreaker to take the opening set 7-6 (7-4) before closing the day with a 6-3 in the second set.
 
Gettysburg returns to action against Swarthmore College on Tuesday, April 16, at 4 p.m.
