GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss to No. 26 Swarthmore College on Tuesday.
Swarthmore (8-7, 4-2 CC) earned three close wins in doubles action. After an 8-5 decision at No. 3, Anthony Collard and Malik Mubeen edged senior
Chris Curran (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) and freshman
Dave Musser (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Twp) 9-7 at the top flight.
Gettysburg (2-10, 0-6 CC) secured its lone victory at second doubles where juniors
Mike Pratt (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and
Scott Johnson (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) won a tiebreaker 7-5 en route to a 9-8 decision over James Wieler and Christian Carcione.
Swarthmore swept all six singles bouts. Pratt won six games (6-3, 6-3) against Irving Stone at No. 3.
Gettysburg faces Washington College on Saturday, April 20, at noon.
