Cavanaugh registered an outstanding sophomore track and field season, starting with an indoor campaign in which she broke school records in the 60m dash (8.03) and 55m hurdles (8.48) while taking runner-up honors in both the 60m hurdles and the 4x200m relay at the Centennial Conference Championship. She was just as impressive during the outdoor season, breaking the school record in the 100m hurdles while earning the silver in the same event at the CC Championship. Cavanaugh would go on to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships in the 100m hurdles and finish 13th at the national meet.
