Paul Triandafilou was the first freshman to gain national status on the wrestling mat in four decades. Triandafilou, who didn't join the team until mid-November, won his first 21 matches at heavyweight. He won both the Messia Petrofes Invitational and the Washington & Lee Invitational, becoming the first Bullet in nearly two decades to win at the former event. Triandafilou placed third at the Centennial Conference Championship and second at the NCAA Division III East Regional to earn a bid to the national event. In his first NCAA Championship appearance, the Gettysburg first-year shined with his only two losses coming to the third- and fourth-place finishers. He capped the event by beating Messiah's Jason Wright 5-1 in the fifth-place match. Triandafilou closed the year sporting an impressive 30-4 record.
