Backus hit .526 (10-for-19) and slugged .842 in a 2-2 week for the Bullets. He batted safely in all four games, and in a 10-5 loss to Washington (Md.), he scored his 100th career run. The third baseman also belted his school-record tying 13th career home run in the same game.
