Leyens registered an outstanding showing while making his debut at the Centennial Conference Championship, winning both the Most Outstanding Performer and Outstanding Rookie Awards. He won five events (200-freestyle, 500-freestyle, 1,650-freestyle, 200-free relay, 400-free relay), set four school records and one Centennial Conference record, and achieved three NCAA B-cuts. Leyens' efforts helped the Bullets finish as the meet runner-up.
