AT GETTYSBURG

Brown heads into his seventh season at the helm of the men’s and women’s swimming programs in 2025-26.

In his first three seasons, he guided the Bullets to a total of 17 school records and eight swimmers were named All-Americans.

In 2022-23, a total of 15 program records fell under Brown’s tutelage. The Bullets also claimed seven gold medals at the conference championship and 19 total medals en route to a second-place finish for both the men and women. Gettysburg women were represented in six events at the 2023 NCAA Division III championship.

The 2023-24 season continued to be a rewrite of the record book under Brown. At year’s end, 15 new entries topped the program records and Bullets took home 24 conference medals, including four golds, to once again sweep second place at the conference championship. Seven individuals represented Gettysburg at the 2024 NCAA Division III championship, claiming All-America honors in four of the 10 events in which the Bullets swam, posting a 22nd-place finish at the national meet for the highest team finish since 1997.

In 2024-25, the men’s team posted an undefeated conference dual season for the first time in Brown’s tenure and posted the program’s highest point total in the championship meet with 892, which was also the most ever by a runner-up team. In total, the Bullets claimed nine gold medals and Evan Graham was named CC Rookie of the Year after two individual golds and an individual silver that included a conference record in the 400 IM.

In his first season with the Orange and Blue, the men and women posted a combined dual meet record of 18-3 and swept the team titles at the Gettysburg Invitational. The season culminated in a series of record-breaking performances by the women at the conference meet as the team won a total of 11 events to claim the program’s first league crown since 2013. The women set a total of 11 school records and featured the CC Most Outstanding Performer of the Meet (Kate Crilly ’20) and the CC Rookie Outstanding Performer (Talia Moss ’23). For his efforts, Brown was named CC Women’s Swimming Coach of the Year. The squad achieved four NCAA “B” cut times with the 200 medley relay qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championship. Following the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic, four women were named All-Americans by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), marking Gettysburg’s first national award winners in women’s swimming in 12 years.

The men’s team narrowly missed the CC title in 2020, finishing just 18.5 points behind Swarthmore College. The Bullets won a total of 14 medals, including golds in the 100 and 200 butterfly and the 100 backstroke. The men’s team posted a pair of school records and four national qualifying times in 2019-20.

Brown’s second year at the helm was waylaid by the pandemic, but the team managed a number of record-breaking performances and national qualifying times in a season-ending dual with national power Johns Hopkins University. The men reset a pair of school records in the 100 fly and 200 fly, while notching NCAA cut times in the 50 free, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay. Those national times landed four men’s swimmers recognition as first-team All-Americans.

PRIOR TO GETTYSBURG

A former student-athlete at Lycoming College, Brown returned to his Division III roots after four years coaching at the Division I level, first as an assistant at Florida Atlantic University (2015-17) and then as an assistant coach at Army (2017-19). He was also the first-ever head coach swimming coach at Division III Marywood University, building the program into a strong contender in the Landmark Conference. Brown led Marywood from 2010-15 and was named the Landmark Conference Men's Co-Coach of the Year in 2013-14 after leading the squad to a 9-3 overall record and fourth-place finish at the league championship meet. During his final two seasons, nine student-athletes were named to the all-conference team. Brown's swimmers still hold a total of 22 school records at Marywood.

At Army, Brown coached five individual Patriot League champions and steered the men's team to three relay victories at the league championship for the first time in program history this season. Both men's and women's programs finished second in the Patriot League Championships in 2018-19.

Brown also oversaw the recruiting program at Army and was responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all campus visits, recruiting weekends, and staff travel. Army's 2020 men's class is ranked as the strongest statistically in program history per collegeswimming.com rankings.

His time at Army followed a two-year stint as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Florida Atlantic. Brown assisted the head coach in all aspects of the program and served as the sprint coach. He coached FAU's only CCSA gold medalist in the men's 100 backstroke and worked with four student-athletes that achieved NCAA "B" cuts. Brown also helped train the school's US Olympic Trial qualifier.

Brown was also the head women's coach at Division I Siena College from 2006-10. He led the team to the program's only 10-win season and a third-place finish at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships in 2009-10. The team set 13 records at the league meet in his final year at Siena and he was named the MAAC Women's Coach of the Year.

Brown was a volunteer coach at the University of Vermont from 2002-03 and spent four years as the head swim coach at the Greater Burlington YMCA prior to arriving at Siena.
