Under Kirkpatrick’s direction, Gettysburg has emerged as an annual contender for the Centennial Conference championship. The Bullets have reached the conference semifinals in four of the last five seasons. In 2012-13, the Bullets posted a record of 21-7 overall and a 16-4 mark in the Centennial Conference. After securing the rights to host the conference tournament for the first time in program history, Gettysburg won its first Centennial championship and qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament
Twice Kirkpatrick has been named CC Coach of the Year, winning the award for the first time in 2009-10 and once again last season. In the former campaign, Gettysburg won a school-record 24 games, finished runner-up in the conference regular season, and advanced to the “Sweet Sixteen” of the NCAA Tournament.

Since joining the CC, Kirkpatrick has guided the team to a 213-132 (.617 winning percentage) in conference competition.
In 1994-95, Kirkpatrick led Gettysburg to a 20-5 overall record. The team qualified for the NCAA Tournament and knocked off the top seed in the region, the University of Scranton, in the opening round.
With an 85-33 win over Randolph College on Jan. 2, 2011, Kirkpatrick became the first coach in program history to reach 300 career wins.
A native of Johnstown, Pa., Kirkpatrick originally joined the Gettysburg coaching staff in 1986 as a part-time assistant with the men's basketball program.
