George Petrie enters his 22nd season as the Gettysburg College head men’s golf coach in 2015-16.

After serving as an assistant coach from 1990-92 and as a co-head coach from 1993-2001, he was elevated to head coach prior to the 2001-02 campaign, and promptly led the Bullets to their first Centennial Conference (CC) championship in seven years. Petrie is also Gettysburg’s head men’s basketball coach and the program's all-time wins leader.

During his tenure at the helm of the men’s golf program, Petrie has directed the Bullets to three CC team championships (1994, 1995, 2002) and three runner-up finishes (2001, 2004, 2011). He has also coached all four of Gettysburg’s CC individual champions, who combined to win six conference titles.

On the hardwood, Petrie has guided the Bullets to three CC championships and all five of the program’s NCAA tournament appearances. In 2008-09, Petrie guided Gettysburg to its third Centennial Conference title in program history.

Prior to joining Gettysburg’s coaching staff, he served for 14 years as an assistant men’s basketball coach under Charlie Woollum at Bucknell University.

A native of Springfield, Pa., Petrie is a 1972 graduate of Lebanon Valley College, where he is a member of the school's Hall of Fame.
