BALTIMORE, MD. --- Emily McAuliffe scored the game's lone goal and Erin Hayden made five saves to lead Gettysburg past nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins, 1-0, in a key matchup of Centennial Conference unbeatens on Wednesday. With the win, the Bullets improved to 7-6-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
McAuliffe fired home the winning goal, her second of the season, off an assist from Amy Brewster in the 77th minute. Gettysburg has won five of its last six games.
Rachel Abelson recorded a game-high six shots for Johns Hopkins, which fell to 11-3-1 overall and 5-1 in the CC. The Blue Jays entered the game ranked second in the Mid-Atlantic region and 12th in Division III.
Johns Hopkins outshot Gettysburg, 10-6, on the evening while Gettysburg held a 2-1 edge in penalty kicks. Brewster led the Bullets with two shots.
Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday, October 16 at Ursinus College. Game time is 11 a.m.
