LANCASTER, PA --- Mike McLaughlin scored a goal and an assist, and Jason Vishio assisted twice as Gettysburg downed Franklin & Marshall 3-1 in Centennial Conference action on Saturday. With the win, the Bullets record improves to 14-1-2 overall, and 7-0-1 on conference play.
Gettysburg hit the score board early, when Wes Thurmond put one in the net in the fifth minute. Thurmond saw an assist from McLaughlin, who returned in the 28th minute to score one of his own off an assist by Vishio. Vishio's assist was his 16 of the season, breaking the previous record of 15 held by Greg Stevcic (1997).
The Diplomats made a run on goal in the 72nd minute of play, seeing a goal from Eric Marshall and an assist from Sebastian Machin, but found Gettysburg icing the win with a goal by Gettysburg's career goal leader, Chris Pryor. Pryor, who was also assisted by Vishio, scored his 50th career goal, making him the 5th player in conference history to reach that mark. Vishio's 17th assist set a new conference record for assists in a season.
Gettysburg, ranked third in the Mid-Atlantic region and 17th in Division III, returns to action on Saturday, November 6 when they travel to Dickinson for their last regular season match. Game time is noon.
