FIVE HIT DOUBLE FIGURES AS GETTYSBURG DOWNS VILLA JULIE, 95-35; BULLETS OFF TO BEST START IN 38 YEARS

GETTYSBURG, PA. --- Jay Hodge (Silver Spring, MD/St. Vincent Pollotti) and Jamie Dawson led five Bullets in double figures with 16 points apiece to help Gettysburg defeat Villa Julie, 95-35, in non-conference action on Tuesday.

With the win, the Bullets improved to 4-0 for the first time since the 1961-62 season.  Gettysburg's 95-point performance was its highest output since a 110-46 win over St. Mary's (Md.) on November 17, 1990.

Hodge's 16 points and team-leading eight rebounds were both career highs.  Carrie Kulp (New Holland, PA/Conestoga Valley) scored 15 points in the winning effort while Megan McDonald added 14 points.  Kelsey Williams also reached double figures with 10 points for Gettysburg, which shot 43-for-81 (53.1 percent) from the floor and recorded 21 steals on 45 Mustang turnovers.  Jen Nolan led the Bullets with seven assists.

Heather Stokes and Delena DeShields led Villa Julie (2-2) with eight points each on the night.  Nicole Deponai pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.

Gettysburg opened the game with a 24-4 run and never looked back en route to the win.

Kulp nailed a driving jumper to open the scoring before Dawson put back a rebound and McDonald scored on a baseline drive to make it 6-0.

After Tracey Comer put the Mustangs on the board with a driving shot in the lane, Kulp scored on a putback and a drive to make it 10-2 with 14:44 left in the first half.

Williams drained a jumper and Villa Julie's Nancy Zentz answered with a bucket to pull the Mustangs within 12-4.

Hodge, however, fueled a 12-0 Gettysburg run with eight of her 16 points to push the Bullet advantage to 24-4 with 8:47 remaining before halftime.  Villa Julie would get no closer than 16 points the rest of the way.

Sarah Payne (Dallastown, PA/Dallastown) came off the Gettysburg bench to score seven points on the evening.  Hodge and Steph Drevna (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) each recorded a team-high four steals for the Bullets, who have recorded 41 steals in their last two games.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, December 1 at home against Ursinus College.  Game time is 7:30 p.m.
