GETTYSBURG, PA. --- Steph Drevna (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) scored 17 points and Megan McDonald added 13 points and eight rebounds to lead Gettysburg to its second lopsided victory in two days, 86-39 over Ursinus in Centennial Conference action on Wednesday. The Bullets downed Villa Julie, 95-35, only 24 hours earlier in Bream Gymnasium.
With the win, Gettysburg improved to 5-0 for the first time since the 1961-62 season and moved to 2-0 in conference play. The Bullets have never started a season with a 6-0 record in the program's 52-year history.
Bullet leading scorer Carrie Kulp (New Holland, PA/Conestoga Valley) also reached double figures with 10 points while Katie Havens pulled down a team-best nine rebounds on the night. McDonald added a team-best five steals and three blocks to her all-around performance while Jen Nolan dished out a team-high five assists to give her 12 helpers in the last two games.
Katie Shearer and Bridget Hussey each scored a team-high six points for Ursinus, which fell to 0-5 on the season and 0-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Bears shot only 13-for-49 (26.5 percent) from the floor on the evening.
Similar to Tuesday's win over Villa Julie, Gettysburg jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
Kulp opened the game with her only three-pointer of the night before McDonald and Jamie Dawson scored from close range to give the Bullets a quick 7-1 lead.
Following a put-back by Shearer that made it 7-3, Gettysburg rattled off a 12-1 run fueled by four points each from Kulp and Drevna to take a commanding 19-4 lead with 13:36 remaining in the first half.
Gettysburg stretched its lead to 30-9 with an 11-5 run over the next four minutes and cruised into the intermission with a 51-22 cushion. The Bullets shot a blistering 23-for-59 (59.0 percent) from the floor before the break and finished the night with a 54.4 percent shooting performance.
Jay Hodge added nine points off the bench for Gettysburg while Sarah Payne (Dallastown, PA/Dallastown) tossed in eight points, including a pair of three-pointers. Drevna collected six rebounds to go with her 17 points.
Gettysburg, which is seeking its first 6-0 start in program history, returns to action on Saturday, December 4 at Washington College. Game time is 1 p.m.
