GETTYSBURG SNAPS LOSING STREAK WITH 71-55 WIN OVER F&M

GETTYSBURG, Pa. --- Carrie Kulp led four Bullets in double figures with a game-high 22 points as Gettysburg beat Franklin & Marshall 71-55 in Centennial Conference action on Saturday.  The win, which breaks a three game Bullet losing streak, improves Gettysburg's record to 9-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Kulp's performance was her second 22-point output in as many games, and her fourth 20-point game of the season.  Kelsey Williams poured in 16 points to the win while Megan McDonald added 11 points for Gettysburg.  Jamie Dawson recorded her third double-double of the season for the Bullets, hitting for 10 points and pulling down a game-high 10 boards.

Franklin & Marshall's Lauren Howanski led three Diplomats in double figures with a team-high 21 points and seven rebounds.  Judy Stauber scored 12 points and pulled in seven boards while Brandy Burkett added another 10 points.

The Bullets opened up the game with a 7-0 run, sparked when Stauber fouled McDonald in the opening 15 seconds.  After McDonald converted both free throws, Williams hit for two and Kulp drained her first of two three-pointers on the night.

The Diplomats turned the tide, starting a 6-0 run of their own when Burkett converted one of two free throws.  After pulling within one, F&M found themselves on the receiving end of a 16-6 Bullet run that made it 23-12 with 10:42 left in the half.  Gettysburg took a 37-22 lead into the locker room.

With the onset of the second half, F&M held Gettysburg scoreless for four minutes, but could only convert two buckets and two foul shots.  Howanski and Amy Kreitz both hit baskets and Howanski capped the F&M run with two foul shots.

The Bullets finally broke onto the second half score sheet with a banked jumper by Steph Drevna, who returned to the court after missing the last three Gettysburg games due to a stress fracture.  Drevna would only see nine minutes on the night, but recorded six points for the Bullets.

The Bullets, who shot 75.9 percent from the foul-line, kept their lead cushioned by converting 11 of 18 foul shots in the final five minutes of play.  Gettysburg connected for 42.6 percent from the field, while the Diplomats shot just 25 percent from the floor on the day.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, January 19 at Centennial Conference foe Western Maryland College.  Game time is 6 p.m.
