WESTMINSTER, Md. --- Jill Ibex posted team highs with 18 points and 10 rebounds and Western Maryland erased a 10-point second-half deficit to defeat Gettysburg 65-52 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Wednesday.
The Green Terror (6-7, 3-2 CC) trailed 44-34 with 11:11 remaining, but closed out the game on a 31-8 run to pick up their third win in the last four games.
Mandy Wilson scored a season-high 11 points while Jamie Dawson added eight points and a career-high 12 rebounds for Gettysburg, which lost for the fifth time in its last seven games to fall to 9-5 (4-3 CC). Jay Hodge scored eight points and and hauled in 10 rebounds for the Bullets.
After Hodge scored to extend Gettysburg's lead to 44-34 with 11:11 remaining, the Green Terror took over the game.
Stephanie McPherson and Ibex sandwiched baskets around a three-pointer from Sindi Stem to pull the home team within 44-41 at the 9:18 mark.
Jen Nolan answered with a basket for the Bullets, but it would be five minutes and eight seconds before they would score again.
During that span, the Green Terror went on a 13-0 run to take the lead for good, keyed by four points from Jen Piccolomini and the second of Stem's two-three pointers on the night. A basket by McPherson capped the rally and gave Western Maryland a 54-46 lead with 3:30 left in the contest.
Gettysburg's Steph Drevna drilled a three-pointer to stop the run and pull her team within five, but the Bullets would get no closer down the stretch.
Carrie Kulp added seven points and six rebounds for Gettysburg, which shot just 20-for-69 (29.0) from the floor on the night.
The Bullets return to action on Wednesday, January 26 at home against Dickinson College. Game time is 6 p.m.
