GETTYSBURG MEN SHOOT SEASON-HIGH 62 PERCENT FROM FLOOR IN 72-52 WIN AT SWARTHMORE

SWARTHMORE, Pa. --- Bill Davidson (Lebanon, PA/Annville-Cleona) scored a game-high 20 points on 9 of 10 shooting and Gettysburg shot a season-best 61.7 percent from the floor in a 72-52 win at Swarthmore on Saturday.

     Greg Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) added 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting to help the Bullets (11-7, 4-3 Centennial Conference) win for the seventh time in their last nine games.

     David Gammill led Swarthmore (3-14, 2-5 CC) with 11 points while Joe Culley added nine and a team-high six rebounds.

     Gettysburg, whose previous high shooting performance was a 58.7 percent outing at Moravian on January 8, shot 63.0 percent (17-for-27) from the field in the first half to take a 39-24 lead into the locker room.

     Swarthmore scored the game's first four points on baskets from Kyle Lewis and Gammill, but Gettysburg answered with an 8-0 run to take the lead for good.  Davidson scored the first of his 16 first-half points and Schreiber followed with a pair of baskets to make it 6-4 with 15:09 left in the first half.

     After the Garnet pulled to within 8-6, Gettysburg went on a 22-8 run over the next 8 minutes and 44 seconds to take command.  Davidson scored 12 points during the run while Schreiber added six of his 10 first-half points, including a basket to make it 30-14 Bullets with 5:27 remaining before halftime.

     Lewis and Culley scored consecutive baskets to cut the lead to 12, but Gettysburg's Mike Monroe scored five of his season-high points to key a 9-2 run that gave the Bullets their largest lead of the half at 39-20.

     Gammill scored on Swarthmore's first possession of the second half to cut the lead to 39-26, but Gettysburg reeled off 23 of the game's next 31 points to put the contest out of reach.

     Curtis McNeil led the Bullets and tied a career high with seven rebounds on the night while Richie Pfeil recorded a team-high three of Gettysburg's season-high nine blocked shots.

     Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, February 2 at Johns Hopkins University.  Game time is 8 p.m.
