GETTYSBURG WINS GREYHOUND CLASSIC TITLE WITH 75-60 VICTORY OVER MORAVIAN; DAVIDSON NAMED MVP

BETHLEHEM, PA. --- Bill Davidson (Lebanon, PA/Annville-Cleona) scored a season-high 25 points and Greg Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) added 11 points and eight rebounds to lead Gettysburg over Moravian 75-60 in the championship game of the 22nd Annual Greyhound Nike Classic on Saturday.  With the win, the Bullets improved to 6-5 and won their second tournament title of the season.

Davidson was named the tournament's most valuable player while fellow captain Ryan Napp, who scored 12 points and added three assists and four steals in the final, earned a spot on the all-tournament team.  It was the second MVP award this season for Davidson, who also earned the honors after leading Gettysburg to the championship of the Days Inn Tip-Off Tournament in November.

Chris Hayn led Moravian (5-5) with 14 points while Rich Whalen added 10 points and a team-best nine rebounds.  The Greyhounds shot only 18-for-54 (33.3 percent) from the floor on the afternoon while Gettysburg enjoyed a 29-for-46 (63.0 percent) shooting performance.

Moravian took its only lead of the day when Whalen drained a three-pointer to give the Greyhounds a 5-3 lead with 17:14 left in the first half.  Davidson put the Bullets ahead to stay on three straight layups and capped the 13-0 run with another basket that gave the Bullets a 16-5 lead at the 13:16 mark.

Moravian closed to within 38-36 on a Whalen layup with 13:57 left in the game.  The Bullets answered when Terence Callahan netted two of his four points for Gettysburg before Davidson and Mike Monroe drilled back-to-back three-pointers to stretch their advantage to 46-36 with 10:50 left in the game.

The Greyhounds cut the deficit to 64-58 in the game's final three minutes, but Gettysburg closed out the championship game with an 11-2 run that included nine free throws.

Monroe finished with eight points for the Bullets while Antoine Gaither collected a team-high five steals in only his second collegiate start.  Richie Pfeil dished out a team-best five assists.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, January 12 with a key Centennial Conference game at Muhlenberg College.  Game time is 8 p.m.
