GETTYSBURG FALLS TO SUSQUEHANNA 68-49 IN DAYS INN CONSOLATION

GETTYSBURG, PA. --- Amy Harrington scored a career-high 24 points and Lisa Stack added 19 points to lead Susquehanna past Gettysburg 68-49 in the consolation game of the 10th Annual Gettysburg Days Inn Tournament on Saturday.  With the loss, the Bullets dropped to 8-3 and suffered their first two-game losing streak of the season.

Megan McDonald led Gettysburg with 11 points while Jamie Dawson added 10 points and a team-best seven rebounds.  Kelsey Williams added nine points and a career-high five rebounds while starting in place of injured guard Steph Drevna (13.2 ppg).  Jen Nolan scored a career-high eight points and tied another career mark with five rebounds off the Bullet bench.

Leslie Clementoni added 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds for Susquehanna, which improved to 7-3 on the season.  The Crusaders forced 34 Gettysburg turnovers on the afternoon while holding the Bullets scoreless for the game's final eight and a half minutes.  Harrington and Stack were named to the all-tournament team.

With the score tied 30-30 at halftime, Gettysburg opened the second half with a 10-3 run to take its largest lead of the game.  Mandy Wilson started the run with her lone basket of the game and McDonald followed with a spinning bucket in the lane.  After Harrington converted one of two free throws, Williams sandwiched a pair of three-pointers around another Harrington jumper to put the Bullets ahead 40-33 with 16:34 left in the game.

From there, however, it was all Crusaders.  Harrington scored five points in a 7-0 burst that tied the game at 40 and Stack put Susquehanna ahead to stay at 43-41 with a driving layup at the 14:19 mark.

Down 52-46 after Clementoni converted a three-point play with 8:51 left, the Bullets scored their final points of the night when Carrie Kulp drilled a three-pointer – her only points of the game – with 8:28 remaining.

Fueled by six more points from Harrington and four free throws apiece from Susan Trella and Alison Ream, the Crusaders closed out the game on a 16-0 run to send Gettysburg to its second straight home defeat.

The win was Susquehanna's second in as many years over Gettysburg at the Days Inn Tournament.  The Crusader's downed the Bullets 49-45 in last year's championship game.

In this season's title tilt, Wheeling Jesuit defeated Montclair St. 69-50 behind 18 points from tournament most valuable player Nicole Barbisch.  Also named to the all-tournament squad were Wheeling Jesuit's Alisha McCune and Montclair St. forward Marlena Lawrence, who scored a team-best 18 points in each game for the Red Hawks.

Gettysburg returns to action with a key Centennial Conference game on Wednesday, January 12 at Muhlenberg College.  Game time is 6 p.m.
