GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Richa Verma scored a pair of goals to lead Johns Hopkins over Gettysburg 4-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Wednesday.  The defeat was the Bullets' (7-4-1, 4-1-1 CC) second straight 4-0 loss, and broke Gettysburg's CC record 24-game unbeaten streak.

     Alene Bernard and Sarah Parola both scored goals for the Blue Jays (10-3, 5-2 CC), while goalie Shannon O'Malley recorded six saves in the Johns Hopkins net.

     Katie Langmore (Boxboro, MA/Acton-Boxboro) led Gettysburg with three shots and goal-keeper Carine Doyle (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) posted nine saves between the pipes.  Lauren Melillo (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg), Julia Girman (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East), Kay McLaughlin (Floral Park, NY/St. Mary's), Maureen O'Donnell (Philadelphia, PA/St. Basil Academy), Whitney Jackson (West Simsbury, CT/Westminster School) and Emily McAuliffe (Lowville, NY/Lowville) all recorded a shot.

     Five minutes into the game Verma took advantage of a failed clear by the Gettysburg defense and drove the ball to the opposite post to give the visitors the 1-0 lead.  At 31:54, Bernard slipped past the Bullet defense and, following an initial save by Doyle, flicked in the rebound to increase the Blue Jays' lead to 2-0.

     Shortly after the break Parola took advantage of another rebound, this time off a backsave by Jackson, and notched her team-high seventh goal of the season.  Verma finished off the afternoon's scoring, burying her second goal at the 83:28 mark.

    The Bullets return to action on Saturday, October 14 at home against Centennial Conference foe Ursinus.  Game time is noon.
