GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Lauren Melillo (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) led the Bullets with six shots as Gettysburg and Ursinus battled to a 0-0 overtime final in Centennial Conference women's soccer action on Saturday.
Katie Langmore (Boxboro, MA/Acton-Boxboro) and Whitney Jackson (West Simsbury, CT/Westminster School) both tallied four shots on the afternoon as the Bullets outshot the Bears 30-6. Goalie Carine Doyle (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) made three saves in the Gettysburg net.
Gettysburg (7-4-2, 4-1-2 CC) dominated the game early, but found its assaults on the Urinus net thwarted again and again by Bear goal keeper Erin Cantwell. Cantwell recorded 11 often-spectacular saves between the pipes, including a sliding block that kept Melillo out of the net in the 115th minute.
The Bullets return to action on Thursday, October 19 at Centennial Conference foe Haverford. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
