WESTMINSTER, Md. – Western Maryland came back from a two-goal deficit to down Gettysburg 3-2 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Saturday.
The game marked the final regular season contest for both Gettysburg (9-5-2, 6-2-2 CC) and Western Maryland (16-4, 7-3 CC). The Bullets and the Green Terror now await potential bids to the ECAC postseason tournament, to be announced on Monday, October 30.
Katie Langmore (Boxboro, MA/Acton-Boxboro) scored both Gettysburg goals, looking first to Rachael Rzemieniewski (Neshanic, NJ/Immaculata) for an assist at the 13:32 mark, then slotting a penalty kick in the 29th minute.
Niki Lepson capitalized on a Western Maryland penalty kick at the 32:33 mark to pull the Green Terror within one, while Heidi Hurtt and Melissa Merson teamed up for the equalizer in the 51st minute. The home team went ahead to stay in the 61st minute when Merson returned for a goal of her own.
Carine Doyle (Exton, PA/Bishop Shanahan) made 10 saves in the net, while Western Maryland's Becca Lyter made 12 stops.
Gettysburg finishes their regular season with a 9-5-2 record overall and a 6-2-2 slate in the CC. The Bullets now await a possible bid to the ECAC tournament, to be announced Monday, October 30.
