GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Three different Bullets found the back of the net as Gettysburg blanked Dickinson 3-0 in Centennial Conference men's soccer action on Saturday.
Dickinson opened the game on offense, recording the first two shots on the contest and matching the home team's play at midfield. Late in the first half however, the momentum of the game changed in favor of Gettysburg as Bullet senior Jeremy Shapiro (Leonia, NJ/Fieldston School) was dragged down in the box. Red Devil goalie Michael Murphy made the initial block on Shapiro's ensuing penalty kick, but Michael Bruno (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Twp.) pounded home the rebound for the game-winner and his first collegiate goal.
Following the half-time break Gettysburg extended its lead to 2-0 when, in the 60th minute, Frank Ianni (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) dribbled to the Red Devil end-line and drove the ball across the box where Cameron MacLean (Riverside, CT/Greenwich, Folsom) slotted it into the side netting.
The last goal of the contest came at 88:40 when Michael Sarbaugh (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) broke free of the Dickinson defense and poked the ball past Murphy for his first collegiate goal.
Gettysburg finishes their regular season with a 13-5 record overall and a 6-3 slate in the CC. The Bullets now await a possible bid to the ECAC tournament, to be announced Monday, Nov. 6.
