CARLISLE, Pa. --- Bill Davidson (Lebanon, PA/Annville-Cleona) scored a career-high 32 points and fellow senior Ryan Napp (Monroeton, PA/Towanda Area) also set a career high with 30 points as Gettysburg outgunned Dickinson 101-91 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Satuday.
Playing in their final collegiate game, Davidson and Napp went out in style, combining to shoot 71.9 percent (23-for-32) from the floor while helping the Bullets (15-9, 8-5 CC) shoot an amazing 68.4 percent (39-for-57) as a team. Napp set a career-high with six 3-pointers while Davidson made a career-best 13 field goals and added seven rebounds.
Backup center Kevin Boyle (Dublin, PA/Lansdale Catholic) also got into the act for the Bullets, posting career highs with 16 points and eight rebounds in place of Greg Schreiber, who struggled with foul trouble. Forward Richie Pfeil, the squad's third senior, added eight points, including an alley-oop slam dunk with 12 seconds left that pushed Gettysburg over the 100-point mark for the first time since a 100-81 win over Messiah on December 11, 1993.
Wade Curry led six players in double figures with a career-high 23 points for Dickinson (11-13, 7-6 CC), including a 5-for-9 performance from 3-point range. Ryan Weidler added 13 points for the Red Devils while Tony Beers and Matt Shaffer chipped in with 12 points apiece.
After a run-and-gun first half in which the teams answered each other shot-for-shot, Gettysburg took charge in the game's final eight minutes to lock up its third straight win.
Dickinson took its last lead of the game at 66-64 on a jumper by Curry with 14:04 remaining. Boyle then keyed a 7-0 Gettysburg run with a pair of layups to put the Bullets ahead to stay at 71-66 with 12:24 to go.
The Red Devils pulled within a point on two occasions and trailed 80-78 at the 8:01 mark when the Bullets went on a 9-1 run to take command.
Mike Monroe started the run with his lone basket of the game and Boyle followed with a layup to make it 84-78 with 6:31 to play. Dickinson's Mike Weniger and Boyle traded free throws before Boyle and Davidson knocked down consecutive jumpers to push the Gettysburg advantage to 89-79 with 3:40 left.
Curry and Weidler answered with layups to pull Dickinson within 89-83, but Davidson and Boyle each converted a pair of free throws to restore the Bullets' 10-point cushion and seal the win.
Gettysburg led by as many as nine points in a first half that saw the team's combine to shoot 58.2 percent from the floor and score 101 points. Napp drilled five of his 3-pointers en route to 19 first-half points while Davidson added 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting. Curry helped the Red Devils keep pace with Gettysburg by nailing four of his five treys before halftime while scoring 14 points.
Despite their late-season winning streak, the Bullets finished in third place in the CC West division and out of the playoffs behind Franklin & Marshall and Johns Hopkins. Gettysburg's 15-9 campaign was its fifth winning season under head coach George Petrie and the second straight year with at least 15 wins.
