GETTYSBURG OPENS CONFERENCE SLATE WITH DOUBLEHEADER

GETTYSBURG, Pa. --- Courtney Todd and Sarah Stokes tossed back-to-back shutouts and allowed only fives hits as Gettysburg defeated Washington 8-0 and 3-0 in Centennial Conference softball action on Saturday.

Todd allowed only two hits while extending her streak of consecutive scoreless innings to 16 as the Bullets pounded out an 8-0 five-inning victory in game one.  Stokes didn't allow a Washington runner past first base in game two, striking out three against no walks and only three hits.  The Gettysburg pitching staff has allowed only one unearned run in 44 innings pitched this season.

Jenna Pabst collected a team-high four hits on the aftenroon while Mandy Wilson went 3-for-6 with a pair of doubles and two RBI to keep the Bullets undefeated on the season at 7-0 (2-0 CC).  Kelsey Williams added a double and Emily Boardman rapped a three-run triple to record Gettysburg's other extra-base hits on the day.

Gettysburg jumped on top 1-0 in the first inning of game one, when Pabst drew a leadoff walk and came around to score on an error, a single from Wilson and a bases-loaded walk to Karyn Miller.

Jen White's sacrifice bunt plated Emily Stevens in the second inning for a 2-0 Gettysburg lead and Boardman made it 5-0 in the third inning with a two-out, bases-clearing triple.  In the fourth inning, Jody Noel (McSherrystown, PA/Delone Catholic) drove home Wilson with a single to make it 6-0.  Wilson then drilled a two-run double in the fifth inning to end the game on the eight-run rule.

In the second game, Gettysburg scored all the runs that Stokes would need with a two-out rally in the first inning.  Wilson doubled and Miller walked ahead of an RBI single from Wargo that made it 1-0.  Williams followed with a double to score Miller and give Gettysburg a 2-0 lead.

The Bullets closed out the scoring when Pabst singled home Stevens with two outs in the sixth inning.

Gettysburg returns to action on Monday, March 27 at home against Albright College.  The first game begins at 3 p.m.
