GETTYSBURG OPENS 2000 CAMPAIGN WITH 20-8 WIN AT DREW

MADISON, N.J. --- Ric Bremer (Ridgefield, CT/John Jay [NY]) scored a career-high five goals and Ross Garretson (New Hope, PA/Germantown Acdmy.) added four goals and two assists as third-ranked Gettysburg opened its 2000 season with a 20-8 win at Drew on Saturday in non-conference action.

     Pete Milliman (Rochester, NY/Canterbury [CT]) added three goals and two assists for the Bullets (1-0) while Kevin Callahan (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Inst. of Rochester) chipped in with two goals and two assists.

     Bremer, Callahan and Mark Pollak (Fairfax Station, VA/Lake Braddock) scored consecutive goals in the game's first three minutes and 38 seconds to help the Bullets take a 7-1 lead after one quarter en route to the victory.

     Colin Forestal, Dave DeRiso and Gary Gadek all scored two goals apiece to lead the Rangers (0-1).

     With the Bullets up 3-0, Garretson netted the first two of his four goals and Milliman scored an extra-man goal to make it 6-0 Gettysburg.

     Gadek put Drew on the board with the first of his two goals on the afternoon at the 1:55 mark of the first quarter. Wes Cadman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) answered for the Bullets off an assist from Callahan just 25 seconds later to make it 7-1 after the first 15 minutes.

     Charlie Hanchett (Annapolis, MD/Stony Brook School [NY]) scored 46 seconds into the second quarter to give the Bullets an 8-1 lead.  Drew found the net four times in the second period and pulled to within 11-5 before Gettysburg closed out the second quarter with goals from Pollak, Milliman and Bremer in the final four minutes before halftime.

     Pollak and Cadman each netted a pair of goals for Gettysburg, which entered the season ranked No. 3 in Division III. Tommy Pearce (Chestertown, MD/Woodberry Forest Sch. [VA]) led the Bullets with three assists while Peter Politi (Wilton, CT/Wilton) added his first collegiate goal in the win.  1999 Division III Goalie of the Year Andrew Barter (North Brookfield, MA/Tabor Acdmy.) made nine saves between the pipes for the Bullets.

     Gettysburg returns to action on Sunday, March 12 at No. 5 Washington & Lee University.  Game time is 1 p.m.
