MILLIMAN SCORES FIVE AS GETTYSBURG ROLLS OVER DICKINSON 27-2 FOR 20TH STRAIGHT CONFERENCE VICTORY

CARLISLE, Pa. --- Pete Milliman (Rochester, NY/Canterbury [CT]) scored five goals and Ric Bremer (Ridgefield, CT/John Jay [NY]) found the net four times as second-ranked Gettysburg opened with a 16-0 run en route to a 27-2 win over Dickinson in Centennial Conference (CC) men's lacrosse action on Tuesday.

Peter Politi (Wilton, CT/Wilton) set career highs with three goals and four points as the Bullets (10-1, 4-0 CC) downed the Red Devils (1-10, 0-4 CC) for the 25th straight time dating back to the 1975 season.  Gettysburg, which notched its 20th consecutive conference win on Tuesday, would clinch the conference title and a berth in the NCAA tournament with wins over Swarthmore and Franklin & Marshall in its final two CC games.

Also among the 17 Bullets scoring goals against the Red Devils were Ross Garretson (New Hope, PA/Germantown Academy), Wes Cadman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) and Chris Porter (Fallston, MD/John Carroll School), who notched two goals each.  Tommy Pearce (Chestertown, MD/Woodberry Forest [VA]) added a goal and two assists for Gettysburg, which set season highs with 27 goals and 61 shots.

Gettysburg jumped on top in the game's first minute and rattled off 16 straight goals before Dickinson cracked the scoreboard with 4:24 left in the first half.

Cadman opened the scoring at the 14:15 mark of the first period, then made it 2-0 with another unassisted goal at 11:37.  Bremer netted the Bullets' next three goals over a span of 1:14 to push the lead to 5-0 with 9:45 left in the first period.

Milliman set up Garretson's first goal of the game at the 7:00 mark, then scored the first of his five tallies one minute and 23 seconds later off a feed from Twombly.  Christian Cronin (Olney, MD/Georgetown Prep. School) scored off a pass from Pearce to make it 8-0 at the 3:10 mark and Milliman scored again with 1:32 left to close out the period with Gettysburg on top 9-0.

The Bullets scored the first seven goals of the second period to extend their lead to 16-0 before Dickinson's Lou Sodano found the net off a pass from Jack Miner with 4:24 left in the half.

Goals from Politi, Milliman and Mark Pollak (Fairfax Station, VA/Lake Braddock) made it 19-1 in favor of Gettysburg at halftime.

Chris Baran (Newington, CT/Avon Old Farms) scored his first goal of the season with 10:54 left in the game.   The Bullets' 27-goal outburst was the team's largest since downing the Red Devils 28-2 on April 21, 1999.  It also marked the eighth time in the last nine years that Gettysburg has scored at least 20 goals against Dickinson.

The Bullets, currently ranked second in Division III, return to action on Saturday, April 22 at home against Swarthmore College.  Game time is 1 p.m.
